This paper designed to study a transmission link by optical fiber in external modulation, it is based on the laser physics parameters (Chirp, Amortization rateetc). The direct modulation is easier to implement and less costly, it is very used if the data to be transmitted do not exceed some GHz. At this, the external modulation is an effective alternative, it is faster and allows sending higher data rates at a great distance. The simulation results are given in terms of eye diagram, the quality factor (Q) and this for different rates of transmission, different length of fiber and different injection currents.
